Appeal For Year Leaders To Recruit New Members

We are in the process of re-introducing a scheme which proved very successful in the 1980s, when we held a large drive to recruit new members from particular year groups, encouraging them to meet up as a group (possibly for the first time in many years).

We hope to spearhead the plan in the coming months by talking to current members of the School Council (the student governing body). At a time when there are now four student leaders each year (Head Boy, Head Girl and their deputies) and a number of Year 13 leaders in each College, we hope a number of them will take responsibility for keeping in touch officially with their own contemporaries through the Old Burians and encourage each other to join.

This plan can be widened to all year groups of whatever vintage. We shall hope to suggest in the first instance that the Head Boys and Head Girls from 1972 onwards might like to consider taking on this task for their own year groups.

Others might just encourage their friends to join the Association. There is an urgent need for former pupils in the age range 30 to 55 to “come on board” – to help arrange social events, perhaps even to serve on committee, so the present “old guard” can gradually hand over a flourishing organisation to a younger generation who are equally proud to be part of the King Edward VI family.

Do get in touch with us via the Contact Page if you would like to assist us, by giving something back to the School.
